What We Do

Mission, outreach, and community ministry at Knox & Zion.

At Knox and Zion, our faith is lived out in practical service — in our churches, our villages, and our community. Here is a glimpse of what we are up to.

Operation Winter Warmth — Knox & Zion

Operation Winter Warmth is an expression of Christian care, offering warmth, dignity, and hope to those facing hardship during the winter months. This ministry has experienced significant growth, allowing us to serve more than double the number of individuals and families compared to previous years — a clear sign of both increasing need and a strong, compassionate response from our congregations.

Generous financial donations, combined with retailer gift cards and discounts, enables the program to stretch resources wisely and respond to specific sizing needs identified by The West Muskoka Food Bank. This approach helps ensure that those served receive not only a warm coat, but one that truly fits their needs.

Bible Study — Zion

Each summer, Zion offers a Bible study for both congregations and the community. These gatherings have provided wonderful opportunities over the years to explore Scripture together and engage in thoughtful, lively discussion. It has become a time of fellowship, learning, and spiritual growth.

Seder Dinner — Knox & Zion

For several years, Knox and Zion have had the joy of hosting a Seder Dinner for the wider community at the Torrance Community Centre. This meaningful event deepens understanding of the Biblical roots of the Christian faith, fosters interfaith awareness, and embodies the spirit of hospitality and community that is so important to both congregations. It is an evening that leaves a lasting impression on all who attend.

Soup Tuesday — Knox

For nearly 20 years, Soup Tuesday at Knox Church has been a relaxed time of food, conversation, reflection, and prayer. People gather in the church lower level to share homemade soup, fresh bread, treats, and good company. Whether you’re a regular, seasonal resident, or first-time visitor, there’s always room at the table.

Hope and Hospitality — Knox

Hope and Hospitality is a bi-weekly liturgical prayer service with a heart for the local community and the wider world. Through meditative prayers and Taizé hymns, participants gather to pray for the churches, the Port Carling and Zion communities, our province, and our world — and then continue the evening together around a shared potluck dinner. It is a space to slow down, pray with intention, and be reminded of what God is already doing in our towns. We hope this gathering will continue to grow and that it will become a cornerstone of our life together as a missional, prayer-rooted community.

Food Cupboard — Zion

At Zion, we care deeply about our neighbours. To help those in our community facing food insecurity, we have established an accessible food cupboard stocked with non-perishable items — available to any resident whenever they are needed, no questions asked. It is a small and practical expression of a deeply held conviction: that loving our neighbours means meeting them where they are.

Fundraising Bake Sale BBQ and Spaghetti Supper Silent Auction

At Zion Church we believe that community outreach and fundraising are vital parts of our mission as a congregation. Each year we host two major events: a Bake Sale & BBQ and a Spaghetti Supper, Silent Auction. These events are not only well attended but are also enthusiastically supported by local residents, businesses, and church members alike, many of whom volunteer their time and talents to make it happen.
