At Knox and Zion, our faith is grounded in the historic teaching of Scripture and the Reformed tradition of The Presbyterian Church in Canada.
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. We believe that the Bible is infallible and inerrant, meaning free from errors. We believe that the Bible is the final and sole authority on all matters of Christian faith and practice.
God
We believe in one God existing eternally in three persons (Father, Son and Spirit). We believe that God is the creator and sovereign over all things. We believe that God is perfectly holy, righteous, merciful and just.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit, who has existed eternally in the fellowship of the Father and the Son. We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts people of their sin, enables people to come to salvation, and dwells within believers.
Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, who has existed eternally in the fellowship of the Father and the Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully Man. We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross and rose from the grave for our salvation. We believe in the return of Jesus Christ in bodily form.
Humanity
We believe that humanity was divinely created good in the image of God, endowed with dignity and worth.
Sin
We believe that because of the fall of Adam and Eve into sin, all humans are born with a fallen nature, leaving us in a state of sin and in need of salvation to be restored to God.
Salvation
We believe that salvation comes through believing in the substitutionary life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Future Things
We believe that one day Jesus Christ will return in bodily form and inaugurate the New Heavens and the New Earth, thereby destroying sin, evil and death for eternity — and that those who have a saving faith in Christ will have perfect fellowship with God eternally.
