“Gathering at Zion feels less like attending a service and more like a family reunion, where relationships run deep and newcomers quickly become part of the family.”

A Look at Zion
Tucked into the peaceful rural setting of Torrance, Ontario, Zion Presbyterian Church has been a place of worship, community, and service since 1916. For over a century, this spirited and faithful congregation has remained a beloved spiritual home in the heart of Ontario’s picturesque cottage country — and in 2016, the church celebrated a proud milestone: 100 years of ministry in the Muskoka Lakes region.
Zion draws a wonderful mix of year-round residents and seasonal members, with the congregation growing warmly each summer as cottagers and seasonal visitors return to the area. The church is home to a diverse and welcoming community, spanning a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and interests — a reflection of the belief that God welcomes all people, and that everyone who walks through the doors of Christ’s church deserves to feel that they have found a true home.
One of Zion’s greatest strengths is its close-knit, family atmosphere. Worship here is warm, genuine, and unhurried — the kind of place where every person is known, valued, and needed. Gathering at Zion feels less like attending a service and more like a family reunion, where relationships run deep and newcomers quickly become part of the family.
Zion is situated in the village of Torrance, just 3 kilometres from Bala and nestled within the Township of Muskoka Lakes. The surrounding area is as beautiful as it is inviting — with hiking trails winding through Hardy Lake Provincial Park, world-class stargazing at the renowned Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve, a vibrant seasonal cottage community, and local gems including a popular pizza restaurant and a craft brewery with a restaurant and spa. The village also features a public beachfront, a ball diamond, and a community centre that Zion uses for events and gatherings.
For over a century, Zion Presbyterian Church has been deeply woven into the fabric of this community — a steady, welcoming presence rooted in tradition and open to new possibilities. Whether you are a longtime local, a returning cottager, or simply passing through Muskoka, you are warmly welcome here.
